For 35 years, we’ve developed programs to meet the diverse needs of clients with moderate to severe traumatic and acquired brain injuries. We provide treatment for post-concussion syndrome, stroke, memory loss, neurobehavioral issues and accident or sports-related head injuries. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical duties, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
  • Perform postural drainage, percussions and vibrations, and teach deep breathing exercises to treat respiratory conditions.
  • Work directly with the client and provides minimum to maximum assistance and/or supervision to promote the client’s success in achieving identified treatment goals.
  • Instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist patients as they practice exercises and functional activities.
  • Make modifications of treatment programs consistent with the established patient care plan
  • Monitor client’s treatment plan and progress towards goals, providing problem solving, conflict resolution and revision of goals/treatment plan as necessary.
  • Meets regularly with Clinical Director/Physical Therapist to update and review clients’ plan, progress and goals.
  • Administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatments, such as ultrasound.
  • Observe clients during treatments to compile and evaluate data on patients' responses and progress, and report to physical therapist.
  • Measure clients' range-of-joint motion, body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of treatments or for patient evaluations.
  • Secure clients into or onto therapy equipment.
  • Fit clients for orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches.
  • Train clients in the use of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices.
  • Transport clients to and from treatment areas, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements.
  • Monitor operation of equipment and record use of equipment and administration of treatments
  • Clean work area and check and store equipment after treatment.
  • Assist clients to dress, undress, and put on and remove supportive devices, such as braces, splints, and slings.
  • Administer traction to relieve neck and back pain, using intermittent and static traction equipment (as applicable)
  • Note changes in clinical status and summarize impact or effect
  • Identify specific elements of each of each intervention/modality provided to client, and utilize training/judgment to determine frequency, intensity, or other details in the plan of care
  • Provide summary/explanation of client response to treatment based on subjective and objective findings, including any adverse reactions to an intervention
  • Attend team meetings and interfaces with treatment team to establish rehabilitation goals and coordinate treatment necessary to support individual client’s treatment plan.
  • Identify staff training needs and coordinates resources to meet same.
  • Support and enhance communication through participation in staff meetings, feedback, rounds, etc.

Qualifications

 

Required Education and Experience

Associates Degree

Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in state employed

 

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree preferred
